How can folk dance and contemporary movement intersect? In Máté Mészáros’s choreography, contemporary dance is not a counterpoint to tradition, but its extension. To live music by Áron Porteleki, seven dancers fill our shared, inherited movements with new meaning.
Hungarian folk dance is a living cultural heritage: knowledge that lives on in collective memory, in the body and in movement. The performance draws on this rich heritage, using shared movement and live music to rethink and expand the boundaries of tradition through the contemporary.
The Central Europe Dance Theatre (KET) is a dance company with a long history; its performances speak to audiences through the diverse language of contemporary dance, showcasing the unique movement styles and thematic choices of Hungary.
