The ever-curious and experimental Soharóza choir returns to Trafó on Valentine’s Day, following last year’s great success What Is a Choir Good For?. This time, through various musical games and by remixing some emblematic moments from the past 17 years, they reveal what they think about music, community, and collective creation.
The heart. The heart. U — U —
The central word of our concert ’REMIX’ is the heart: we sing about the most musical organ, the one that gives rhythm and (re)mixes; this roughly quarter-kilo, fist-sized muscle that is also a symbol of life and love.
We sing about how it pulses.
How it hurts.
How it stabs.
How it melts.
How it breaks.
How it is gold, how it is in our mouths, and what comes from the bottom of it.
And we don’t just sing about it: we put it into words, into rhythm, into chimes, into improvisation — while also recalling (strictly remixed!) a few important moments from Soharóza’s past 17 years that resonate strongly with this theme.
May our hearts not catch a chill.

Soharóza is an experimental choir, founded in 2008 by Dóra Halas. As a collective they have been playing and working with the human voice, different tones and timbres, the sounds of bodies and spaces, creating unique, uncategorizable performances. Their ars poetica is collective composing where the members are not only performers, but co-creators of each performance. Their shared interest is constant experimentation with the formation and perception of sounds, from special vocalization and choral improvisation or movement-based sound choreographies, resulting in unusual performances.
