DÁVID SOMLÓ: MANDALA
A participatory sound performance for audience members, portable sound devices and combinations of shapes demarcated on the performance floor. Part immersive sound composition, part intimate choreography, part group meditation, Mandala asks how we might exist and interact with each other when there is nothing left to do but walk.
Mandala was commissioned by Oxford Contemporary Music and premiered at Audiograft Festival in March, 2016. The piece was awarded 2nd place at the international Cross Awards held in Verbania, Italy. Further performances include Montag Modus Series, Collegium Hungaricum, Berlin, NOW’16 Festival, The Yard Theatre, London, We Are Now Festival, Roundhouse London, Festival Internacional de Musica Experimental, Sao Paolo, Reality Research Festival, Budapest, Sonorities Festival, Belfast, HUBS Immersive Festival, Hague, Mais Imaginarius Festival, Santa Maria de Feira, Contact Zones Festival Bornholm, Water Festival, Burgas, Open Festival, Budapest, Kolorádó Festival, Nagykovácsi.

ZIGGURAT PROJECT: URGENT NEED TO BREATHE
Urgent Need to Breathe was inspired by freediving. In the performance we breathe together and simultaneously take deep breaths to gain awareness of our body and mind. We dive together to experience the immersive space.
Your sensorial experience is supported by interactive technology as we use LED lights reacting on light sensors, wearable electronics and interactive sound and light design. However you can see the dancers moving from different perspectives, it is not only a dance piece to watch, but also a diving experience with its different states of flow, weightlessness, adrenalin, narcosis, dependence and even the urgent need to breathe.
The main focus of Ziggurat Project is on interdisciplinary site-sensitive performances connecting contemporary dance and other forms of art. In the past three years the company participated in international cooperations such as Picture Project of Placcc Festival (HU, NO), Performing Arts residency of Visegrad Fund, Art&Tech Days (SK), White Night Festival (SK), Spotter Trip (A) or Let me in Performing Arts Festival (DE).
