CandoCo reinvented the boundaries of dance by proving that virtuosity wasn’t confined to the able bodied. (Judith Mackrell, The Guardian)
The Journey, a fast and furious pilgrimage through the emotions, is choreographed by Fin Walker of Walker Dance Park Music. The driving internal momentum is matched by the exhilarating performances of CandoCo’s dancers. Impulses of abandonment are punctuated with moments of reflection, all intimately entwined with the rhythmic score of composer, Ben Park. A complex and arresting journey of discovery.
In contrast, In Praise of Folly choreographed by Athina Vahla is a rich and evocative piece of dance theatre, inspired by the intrigues of Renaissance art. The piece is pervaded by a powerful sense of beauty, coupled with a constant potential for destruction. Dark and intimate imagery, haunting movements and disquieting music make for an atmospheric performance.
