The festival's visual identity is itself a work of art, created by the artist duo Alagya (Szilvia Bolla and Áron Lődi). Titled 2025, their project for NEXTFEST is inspired by the current condition and contradictions of the Hungarian public sphere. The festival's image takes the familiar visual topos of the government's well-known misleading and inflammatory political communication, which completely dominates public spaces. It breaks it down into different layers, thus emphasizing its redundant and memetic character.
The visual identity is further complemented by a series of text-based works that are visible on Trafó's various online and offline platforms. These writings seek to bring forward narratives that have been completely marginalized by the dominant power.
In Hungarian. English translation (as print handout) available.
The performance is part of the 5th NEXTFEST (5-9 March 2025), with which Trafó celebrates emerging artists, new forms and experimentation every year. The full festival programme can be found here.
