Part of the transdisciplinary focus Rural–Urban Relations.
Nicole Clore visits Ragyolc, the village where her friend, mentee and long-term partner Csaba grew up. A meeting between a home, a village and a body.
Nicole’s queer, drag and camp presence enters the spaces that form part of Csaba’s personal and family history: the pantry, the greenhouse, the yard, and the sauna. The photographs taken by Csaba are not presented as documentation, but as another performative layer. The rural landscape and the bodies inhabiting it become both real and fictional.
What happens when another body enters our home? Who is really arriving? And can a place be foreign and familiar, rural and urban, personal and shared at the same time?
Specially created for Trafó’s focus, HOME IS A DRAG transgresses the rural-urban binary to embrace their entanglements – at the intersection of the queer body, home, nature and imagination.
