Choreographer Viktor Szeri and the dancers of Willany Leó bring Pleasure back to Trafó’s stage! Together they explore what brings them joy in movement and how this pleasure is perceived from the outside.

As we scroll through increasingly absurd news, it is easy to forget such fundamental questions as what brings us joy—especially when it comes to our bodies. Our personal, individual perspectives often seem overshadowed by the weight of social issues. Yet it is precisely from this personal level that everything begins.

Viktor Szeri and the performers (András Engelmann, Patrik Keresztes, Réka Oberfrank, Zita Thury, Zsófi Szász) investigate what pleasures lie in dance, and how these become perceptible to others. The piece does not seek universally valid answers—rather, it builds on individual physical experience. As in Szeri’s earlier works, everyday situations and gestures appear on stage—ones that may be joyful not only for the performers but also for those watching them. Here, the body is not only a tool but also a source of experience and a surface of communication. The audience, too, can become part of a process in which individual joy is transformed into a collective experience—something that may be liberating, or at times even unsettling.

The #kaméleon project is an example of the Willany Leó Improvisational Dance Theatre’s constant drive for renewal: by inviting guest artists, they continuously seek to redefine themselves, enriching the relationship between contemporary dance and improvisation with fresh perspectives and seemingly endless possibilities.
