"in Twosome, there is hardly any movement traditionally considered dance, but the performers explore a wide range of simple but emphatically simple movement possibilities and their varied further development. In the wonderfully and cleverly lit empty space, figures and poses flash, hands and feet intertwine, bodies flutter and tremble, some are pulled like rag dolls, others hold each other at bay with their voices, sometimes two girls seem to have only one arm each... No story, no emotion, no characters, but full of ideas, and inherently choreographic ideas"

There is no need to introduce Máté Mészáros to the Hungarian contemporary dance scene, because he is often seen at Trafó or other Hungarian stages. He is unquestionably one of the most prominent members of the new generation of choreographers. He has travelled the world as a choreographer and dancer. His works have been presented in Belgium, Germany and Austria. He is one of the few Hungarian artists whose work was performed by Impulstanz in Vienna for three nights to a full house. She was first a soloist with the Szeged Contemporary Ballet, then moved to the Carte Blanche , Lanonima Imperial in Bergen. For six years she was a member of the company Ultima Vez, so much celebrated in our country, and then worked as a choreographer and teacher in Europe and overseas. He has worked with Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal, Myriam Naisy and Wim Vandekeybus. More recently he has studied lighting design.
Máté Mészáros's Twosome 2.0 is an exploratory vision of its own, where it is possible to analyse the current issues of humanity and couple relationships. Mészáros places his choreography in a reduced landscape, removed from reality, to allow us to examine the relationships he depicts on a microscopic level. We, the spectators, watch and examine what we see together with the choreographer, wandering through the willows of connection and searching for the thoughts that emerge in the process. The dancers in the work are impersonal, neutral beings, so to speak, and the choreographer's intention is to create an abstract world where the examination provides the optimal environment for the audience to examine. The desolate landscape that forms the backdrop for all this is shaped by the abstract, colourless lighting composed by the choreographer on the one hand, and the flood of music that piles up timelines and tones on the other. In this moon-like white landscape, the representation of human togetherness is revealed, with the formal versatility and multiplication of duets and embraces. The myriad of possible variations of togetherness gives free rein to the analysis of relationships.
