Have you ever dreamed about sitting on a numbered seat at Trafó’s auditorium? Have you ever wished that you know in advance in what row and from which chair you will be watching our performances? The time has come: XORXOR's creative coding team and Let_it_Be art agency designed our virtual auditorium, where you can choose your favourite spot.

Let’s meet in our virtual Great Hall and take part in our “Take a Seat! - online Trafó evenings” screening series on Saturday nights for the upcoming 5 weeks. 2020.04.04. CIE Pal FrenakTricks & Tracks 2.

The Pál Frenák Company first came to the public’s attention when they presented their performance Tricks & Tracks in 1999. The basic concept of this legendary and momentous production has not lost its relevance since then, and Tricks & Tracks 2. is a revision of the original performance - ironic, cruel and provocative. Performers slip from one character to the next, revealing themselves and then slipping back into their created roles. Their bodies impact on each other whilst slamming together or throwing themselves onto the sterile white surfaces of the stage, clashing and clinging, eagerly seeking each other's presence.

The show is an exciting mixture of the serenity and transparent minimalism of Japanese culture and calligraphy and the flickering, vivid madness of megacities. Pál Frenák uses strong expression in a space stripped of features to create a frenzied, organic and chaotic modern butoh. In one moment, dynamism and pulsating life dominates the scene while the next moment is slow and minimalistic. The dancers masterfully exploit the possibilities of the choreography to present both the frantic action characterizing the contemporary society and the purity of traditional Japanese theater where presence, silence and inner awareness are paramount.
