This evening will be the first installment in a series of concerts, with the aim of establishing a process of work that reaches beyond borders to engage our neighboring countries and other musicians and artists from further away, who share a similar approach to music. The cooperation doesn’t merely involve individuals, but establishments as well - the FUGA, the Trafó, the MR3 Bartók Radio, venues in Slovakia and other cultural centers within various countries.
This year, the Hungarian participants are joined by an artist from the Czech Republic and a number of significant representatives from a famous string school of Slovakia, as well as a young, yet already significant composer, whilst the events will be focusing on the figures of two musicians. Ádám Kondor and Marián Lejava are prominent members of their generation, who have significantly influenced their surroundings. Their sound is a direct continuation of the Central European traditions and the Romantic / Avant-Garde approach of Beethoven, Schönberg and Bartók; at the same time, however, it is deeply ingrained with the efforts of the post-war decades – the works of Boulez, Kurtág and Ligeti – and the approaches of the greatest creators of improvised sound recordings. The event is also the first major premier of the Qaartsilun Ensemble. The ensemble – in the collective noun meaning of the word – incorporates the previous, multifarious work, yet composite performing approach of its leader and fine musicians trained through their shared work. Pető Anna’s visual imagination will transform the neutral background into an exciting space during the concert. This isn’t the first occasion that the young artist’s visual world-view is joined to other branches of art, who will be showcasing work especially prepared for the event.
