The basic concept behind the fifth installment of the series of etudes is the “Human Lab”. The anniversary edition consists of the presentation of curator Júlia Bársony’s choices – works that utilize our memories, gestures, freedom, autonomy and texts through various techniques. Sounds interesting?

ANTAL BODÓCZKY’s performance entitled Teszvesz Város (Busy, Busy Town) was inspired by Richard Scarry’s series of books and dictionaries about a city in which the details and goings-on behind the scene are often displayed in cross-section views, as well as showing the names of items and activities in a number of different languages. In the course of the performance, the ensemble comprised of immigrants intend to present their own public professions to the audience, including the real or stylized items tied to their jobs, whilst the details are provided by the images projected onto them.

VJ CENTRUM BUDAPEST is a visual creative lab in which the members deal with interactive, video and media arts and projection techniques. In the course of their work entitled Testtúra (Body Tour) they focus on projected images, visitors and interaction itself.

The SPANYOLNÁTHA AKCIÓCSOPORT (Spanish Flu Taskforce) either creates performances centered on a single artist or free activities,, as well as taking part in complex theatre performances. In the new textual experiment of the employees of the Spanish Flu art journal, writer Attila Berka and poet and musician Zsolt Székelyhidi examine how many words the life of a book depends on.

In the theatrical and performance works of ANDRÁS JUHÁSZ, the relationship between space, video and characters form an integral whole. The video performance entitled Ember Labor (Human Lab) builds on the concept of his performance entitled Rész M (M(y) Part), creating an experimental performance centered on deconstructing the human body to its elements, and the errors and metamorphoses stemming from the digital reconstruction of the anatomical junctions and elements and the simultaneous observation of the test subject.
