In the frame of 'dunaPart'-Contemporary Hungarian Performing Art Platform
Isadora Duncan, Jim Morrison, Marilyn Monroe, Paul Newman and Janis Joplin all coming together in a visionary road movie. Pál Frenák’s latest choreography.
The acclaimed choreographer takes us on a journey through ages and generations with the help of instantly recognizable, iconic figures and emblematic dancers. In his latest piece he fuses the dynamics of rushing and the dramatic moment of collision with film-like traces, hence the “genre” definition: movie-moving.
The linearity of time is broken and the boundaries between dream and reality become blurred, with gestures and motions demarcating the framework and the common ground of the intersections. A white Cadillac cuts through infinity in front of a backdrop composed of video-artist Philippe Martini’s work in the minimalistic scenery we’ve come to expect from Frenák.
Frenák’s shape of motions receives a new quality in the choreography through the presence of Katalin Lőrinc, Pál Lovas or Dóra Uhrik – this is a great challenge even for Pál Frenák, since the youthful drive, constant pulsating and dynamic motions have become his hallmark.
