At break-neck speed Percossa invokes many atmospheres: from African rhythms, latin-swing and a Maori Haka to solid Rock, an exotic jungle with elephants and chimps and even the local Driekusman, a very witty clog dance. They also play their own bodies with virtuosity and even use lighters. For an hour and a half Percossa prove that percussion can be especially funny. An absolute delight!
At the end of the 80's, Percossa started to do musical theatre busking in the streets of southern France, where the performers were forced to use a variety of means to captivate the attention of passers-by. It is clear that the spirit and nature of busking continue inspire Percossa’s urge to entertain and its commitment to artistic renewal. It is also the cause for the inevitability of variety and the instinct for musical theatre which defines the group. In 1998 Percossa took all their musical and theatrical knowledge to the theatre. In February of that same year, Percossa started its first theatre tour - performing 'Rhythmix' and was so successful that it was performed again the following year.
Early 2000 saw the beginning of 'Alle Gekheid met een Stokje', a show Percossa made with Cesar Zuiderwijk, the world renowned drummer of Golden Earring. This show was performed approximately 75 times in theatres in the Netherlands. A CD ('Live!') and a DVD were subsequently released. The third show, 'HITMEN', started September 2001. In 2003 this show was performed again and resulted in the production of a DVD .
From 2003 Percossa also wrote and performed live music for 'See under X' (2003, 2005 rerun), 'See Hear / Sea Here' (2004), 'Peeled' (2004) and 'Me' (2004) as well as works Itzik Galili created for Stuttgart Ballett ('Hikarizatto', 2004) and Bayerisches Staatsballett in Munich ('So nah so fern', 2005).
Percossa's fourth full evening theatre show 'Pulse' premiered in 2003 in. The rerun and DVD-release were in 2005. That same year Percossa wrote 'A Linha Curva / The Curved Line' for Itzik Galili's ballet for Balé da Cidade de São Paulo (Brasil). In 2006 Percossa presented their fifth show 'From Holland'. The four men also wrote the music for the full evening 10-year-anniversary programme of Galili Dance called 'Heads or Tales'. In 2007 Percossa did a rerun of 'From Holland' and released the DVD/CD set to accompany this show.
