Karim Ziad Ifrikya

The name Karim Ziad has been familiar for some time to knowledgeable fans of music. His music is a crackling and tension-filled musical mixture that awaits you on this new shiny silver disc: the sounds of the traditional music of North Africa – the Maghreb – flow into more than a simply productive fusion of jazz and electronic sounds.
The band Chalaban was founded in Budapest by Moroccan musician Said Tichiti in 1998. The band is a dynamic player on the world music scene in Central and Eastern Europe, experimenting with a highly original opening up of Moroccan music to the musical traditions of Central Europe, the Balkans and gypsy rhythms.
