The name Karim Ziad has been familiar for some time to knowledgeable fans of music. The band Chalaban was founded in Budapest by Moroccan musician Said Tichiti in 1998. The band is a dynamic player on the world music scene in Central and Eastern Europe, experimenting with a highly original opening up of Moroccan music to the musical traditions of Central Europe, the Balkans and gypsy rhythms.
