In our neurotic contemporary society in which everything, even the performing arts, must be consumed quickly like the images of the cathode ray tube, Carlotta Ikeda reminds us how to take our time. She performs an apparently immobile dance, in which everything moves on the inside. On the stage is a woman with something monstrous about her, a being of a thousand faces: half wife, half lonely little girl, a creature devoured by male passion.
And this is how WAITING tells of the search for ecstasy, going beyond stereotypes and reaching out beyond the typical form of Butoh.
