Contemporary Drama Festival at Trafó!
Little stories about simple people and their compelling little dramas. On closer scrutiny, they range from disproportionately broad in scope to infinitely small, though in the end they always succeed in touching us.The birth of a breath, a word, of life, desire, malaise, anger or laziness. The birth of the blinking of an eye, of a shiver, of frenzy, of death’s approach. The death of a traveling salesman, of goose bumps, of audacity, of the soul and of reality, cerebral. Death, period. Blood everywhere.

DAVE’S WORD “This evening we will be presenting LA PORNOGRAPHIE DES ÂMES with all its component parts - its naivety, exuberance, overlong passages and its simplicity. This performance is a hymn to mankind, celebrating the beauty and the ugliness of the human race, its profundity and its superficiality. Man is an ever-changing creature, an aimless being. Every show is a risk, which is scary but invigorating. We build our lives with bits and pieces of this and that. It is thus the duty of our dance piece to reflect this so simple yet so complex thing that is life.” /Dave St-Pierre/

“Suffering, pathos, disillusion, distress, solitude, powerlessness and the quest for the absolute are the taboo themes and unmentionable questions that form the essence of his past works. Once again, this indomitable artist is obsessed by these issues and seeks not to evoke or suggest their presence under a veil of modesty, but to really show them – crudely, cruelly and uncomfortably. The audience will most likely experience a certain discomfort when faced with its own fantasies and grey zones, its voyeuristic or vulnerable aspects, as does the performer, constantly on the alert and in an unstable position both during the artistic process and during the performance. In a series of fierce, corrosive scenes, a group of dancers with no equivocations and no taboos rush headlong through a waltz in 26 movements that mixes all sorts of musical genres. For Dave St-Pierre, there are no limits! With eyes wide open, he dares to present the naked truth.” /Stéphane Lépine/
