The Irrepressibles LIGHT & SHADOW SPECTACLE

The Irrepressibles are a 10-piece performance-pop orchestra who combine complex and beautiful musical arrangements with a series of stunning theatrical ‘spectacles’ to create a powerful live experience that challenges and enthralls. Their piece is a unique mixture of music and theatre, which is perhaps similar to the recent performance of the Tiger Lillies at the Trafó The first of their performances, the magical Light & Shadow Spectacle takes reference from sun dials - the changing perspective caused by shadow and light and how these play tricks upon the eye. Performed within a standard black box set up on the seemingly bare stage which gently flickers into life, elaborated by a multitude of large and small vintage filament bulbs that flare up, creating shadows, illuminating & rippling across the stage.
