Ivana Müller is a choreographer, artist and author of texts. She grew up in Croatia but most of her life lived and worked as a foreigner. Müller’s dance and theatre performances, installations, text works, video-lectures, audio pieces, guided tours and web works have been presented in venues and festivals such as Rotterdamse Schouwburg, La Villette Paris, Wiener Festwochen, DTW New York, HAU Berlin, Kaaitheater Brussels.

In Common is an ensemble piece in which 10 performers ”dance” political systems like social choreographies. Sharing the same stage, same language and the same set of ”rules” performers find themselves in positions and problems comparable to those we are familiar with in contemporary democracies. The performers present countless variations on what a ‘common body’ can mean. While the players seek a movement unison, a consensus between all these different bodies, they get caught up in positions and problems that are found in any democratic system. Can a group of people represent one idea? What we represent and how we are represented are the central questions in this piece, in which a series of choreographic rules make up an ingenious game that revolves around our society.
