Have you noticed that the reason sounds are so effective is that there’s no way of hiding from them?

Overheard’ explores our relationship with sounds. It builds an abstract, yet familiar environment that slowly unfolds on the senses by combining elements of found and staged recordings, overheard conversations and minimalist musical pieces. A cinematic dramaturgy of various sounds guides the attention and imagination of the audience, who are seated blindfolded on a stage surrounded by speakers.

By highlighting the mysteries of the sounds of our everyday life, the piece resonates with important questions of our time: how do we relate to the fact that we inevitably hear everything that surrounds us, regardless of whether we want to or not? Where do all these sounds come from, and how do they shape our image of reality?

"Quantum listening is listening to more than one reality simultaneously. Listening for the least differences possible to perceive - perception at the edge of the new. (…) One focuses to a point and changes that point by listening.” Pauline Oliveros - Quantum listening

For the fullest sound experience audience members will be asked to wear eye covers, which will be provided before the performance.
