NEXTFEST / This Is Not a Love Talk S01E01 - The Cultural Disenfranchisement of Art
Moderators: Zsolt Miklósvölgyi and Barnabás Zemlényi-Kovács Barnabás
Invited guest: Tamás Seregi
Trafó Gallery's new discussion series, kicking off in the framework of NEXTFEST, opens a dialogue on current issues in contemporary art.
This Is Not a Love Talk will critically analyse the dominant but controversial trends in contemporary art in Hungary and abroad, aiming at questioning the seemingly conventional truths of prevailing artistic and cultural ideas without avoiding ambivalent, uncomfortable and divisive statements.
In the first episode, the two permanent moderators of the series - Zsolt Miklósvölgyi and Barnabás Zemlényi-Kovács - together with the invited guest Tamás Seregi, art theorist will discuss the controversial relationship between art and culture in the context of Dean Kissick's provocative pamphlet The Painted Protest, one of the most discussed and divisive art essays of recent times.
This event is part of the 5th edition of NEXTFEST, Trafó's very own mini festival, with which it celebrates new forms, emerging artists and the joy of experimentation each year. Please find the full festival programme here.
