Trafó Gallery is presenting a group exhibition of the photography-based works of Swedish
Thobias Fäldt and Klara Källström – who are active as a duo as well – along with the works
of Hungarian Miklós Surányi. The artists are representatives of an emerging European
generation of photographers, whose works are repositories of a global photo-based
visual language, which doesn’t exclusively limit itself to the realm of contemporary visual arts. The pure visuality of the photography represented by the artists is capable of presenting
subjective and poetic gestures in a sensual and exciting way. The exhibited images – which aren’t necessary series – can be interpreted as a form of subjective diaries, which capture extreme conjunctions of light, space and time. The so-called “meta-narrative” method of the exhibition makes use of the urge of the viewers to create stories from the succession of images when sensing a narrative tension. The spontaneous, humorous, yet still composed lyric frames present seemingly coincidental situations, function-less still lives and absurd portraits. The exhibition doesn’t merely consist of photos, but also the extended instruments of the genre as well: apart from motion pictures this includes a number of limited edition photo books, which have a significant influence on the medium and its channels of distribution.
