Workshop Foundation
The Foundation works with nearly 200 Hungarian and foreign artists yearly and runs 4 studios in two highly important independent art institutions in Budapest.
We moved to Trafó House of Contemporary Arts in 1998, managing the dance studio and organising programs and dance classes. We shared office and technical equipment with the team of Trafó and we have worked in close collaboration ever since. Given the specificities of the two organisations we can often rely on each other, complementing each other’s activities. The Foundation takes part in the development and support of talent among others.
Since January 2014 Workshop Foundation runs 3 studios (880m2 in total) in Jurányi Incubator House and our office has also been relocated here. Besides these new spaces we are still responsible for the schedule and dance classes in Trafó Studio.
We contribute to the work of independent artists with training programs, production help and professional help. Our aim to become not merely their supporters but their partners on the long term.
We are known abroad for our international co-productions, educational and residency programmes (both production and research residencies) as well as our active role in professional networks. Workshop Foundation to date has an extensive and branching, well-functioning net of international liaisons and is one of those Hungarian organizations that are internationally recognized and widely known. Important networks, partnerships include: Life Long Burning, Aerowaves, GPS - Movement Research and Philadelphia Dance Projects.
