PROGRAM

In his new show Work, Claudio Stellato orchestrates chaos. With a bunch of DIY artists, devoted to their craft to the point of no return, he will show us the beauty and the absurdity hidden in raw materials.

Nails, some wood and paint, few tools and everyday gesture which seem to be unimportant, revisited and transformed in a fantastic construction site. Physical efforts are pushed to the limit of exhaustion which sometimes lead to an absurd result. Work is a hilarious drama in which a broken record player dreams itself as a concrete mixer and the handyman himself ends up glued to the wall.

In this universe of the absurd and the strange, bricolage is not treated in its raw form. It is repeated, ritualized, coordinated and detached from its original function in order to bring it closer to the practices of dance, circus, music and visual arts. With his third creation - after L'Autre (2011) and La Cosa (2015), Claudio Stellato gets further into his research between body and material.

Claudio Stellato is a multidisciplinary artist who has been interested for a long time in new relationships between the body and matter. Dancer for different companies, then choreographer. His company Cie Claudio Stellato is based in Brussels.
