[Ahmed], the quartet of Pat Thomas (piano), Antonin Gerbal (drums), Joel Grip (bass) and Seymour Wright (alto saxophone) make music of heavy rhythm, repetition and syncopation set deep into an understanding of jazz and the obscure depths of its history – to produce a new jazz imagination for the 21st century. Across the LP which make up ‘Nights on Saturn’ their 2021 album, the group work and rework the music of the late musician Ahmed Abdul-Malik to create a stamping, swinging, relentlessly propulsive record where profundity and physicality root right back to ecstatic feeling.

As part of the evening UH Fest and SHAPE+ present* a commissioned trio collaboration between Budapest based experimental drummer, viola player and sound artist Áron Porteleki with roots in folk muisic, and electronic musician Márton Kristóf (both members of the 12z trio) with Vienna-based Iranian electroacoustic composer Tahereh Nourani.

Triglav aka Márton Bertók is a Budapest-based electronic instrument builder and musician, exploring the realm between organic and synthetic sounds. His primary instrument is a modified Buchla Music Easel, one of the first modular systems created for live performance. In addition to his solo work, he is an active collaborator in Budapest's improvised music scene.

Aaron Moore & Erik K Skodvin is an improvisational collaboration of Moore, multi-instrumentalist, founding member of the English experimental music group Volcano The Bear, half of the Gospel of Mars duo, and Norwegian experimental / ambient musician Skodvin, member of Svarte Grainer, B/B/S, Deaf Center and Norwegian Noise Orchestra, founder of Miasmah Records.

After the concerts in the main hall, there is a special ticketed event in the club:
