We’re bringing mulatós to the stage because it has no less right to be there than any other dance form. Though its movements may be simpler, it is no less expressive or valuable. At the BÁL (Ball), we create space for mulatós to flourish and meet other living cultures, like electronic music.

We warmly invite you to the Bál, where familiar songs and joyful dancing await!

Mulatós is a genre of popular Hungarian music and dance, often heard at weddings, village fairs, or festive gatherings. It has a joyful, celebratory spirit that encourages people to let loose and have fun. While some people love it and others may find it polarizing, it’s almost impossible to avoid in Hungarian celebrations. How will this genre be remembered a hundred years from now? What defines tradition, and what is living culture?

The other key element of our performance is electronic music, inspired by the hyperpop genre, known for its fractured, distorted, layered, and playful sound. It reflects the overwhelming flood of information in the digital world, which can sometimes burn out everything and everyone.

By blending these two styles, we explore the coexistence of contrasts in life that are often hard to reconcile. In a world that’s increasingly divided, this piece aims to provide a common platform for celebrating differences and finding unity.
