DŌJŌ is a hall or place for immersive-, experiential learning, or meditation. This is traditionally found in the field of martial arts.

After Jenna's previous two performances - RING (circle dances) and HALO (sacred dances) - she continues to decode tradition in the world of martial arts.

‘Throwing’ 5 pas de deux’s on to the tatami using Brazilian jiujitsu, judo and 'deadbody' partnering and placing  them into the musical structure of classical ballet class, accompanied by a pianist.

Practice, repetition, pas de deux, choke, throw, plié, petit allegro, finale.

When does practice become the art itself?
SUB.LAB.PRO is a creative platform for contemporary dancers to expand their technical and creative capabilities through choreographic creations. The program is designed to foster a realistic appreciation of a professional company-like environment by offering a complete tool kit to sustain and nourish the dancers at the start of their career paths. During the training, 4 different choreographers will create a full evening performance for the dancers, and the company will present the finished work on the Trafó Main Stage. DŌJŌ is the second show of the 2024/2025 Ensemble.

Jenna Jalonen a.k.a triplejay is a finnish born dancer, choreographer and producer.  Her choreographic works Long time no see! and BEAT ‘I just wish to feel you’ were part of the Aerowaves selection of Twenty19 and Twenty20. She has been awarded twice with the Rudolf Lában Prize for the best contemporary dance performance in 2019 with BEAT and in 2021 with RING, a creation for the 1st generation of SUB.LAB.PRO.

Coming from a background of Gymnastics and Classical Ballet Jenna has also found major inspiration in different movement and art forms like partnering, acrobatics, house dance and folk dances that are visible in her movement and as a performer. She has been examining the body’s physical boundaries while decoding and rewriting tradition into new context. She carries an extensive scale of physicality that appears both brutal yet vulnerable on stage in her artistic works.
