In an often playful as thought-provoking manner, the works of choreographer Adrienn Hód push the boundaries of depiction behind taboos and conventions of gazes and expectations, arriving at completely new dance forms and dramaturgic principles. For „Coexist", Hód, along with her company Hodworks, and Bremen based dance company Unusual Symptoms collaborate with each other for the first time. The project will be developed and presented in Budapest and Bremen. Forming a large multinational ensemble, „Coexist" will deal with matters of solidarity, collective practice and social dynamics while shining a light on the relation of artistic autonomy and social freedom. How do we value the role of art as a mirror and disturbing factor of given circumstancs? „Coexist" explores the idea of the collective between utopia and instrumentalization and furthermore explores political and social normative sets in which bodies move, which form them and influence them. Might oppositional body images feed back forms of aesthetic resistance into the social mainstream? What could a body, liberated from all inscriptions, look like at all? And is art the last refuge for coexistence?
