HOPPart Társulat - Kárpáti Péter: SURPRISE PARTY

2000 Ft / Student: 1500 Ft / season ticket is valid
In Hungarian

“I have a girl, or at least I had a girl in Damjanich street and another in Rumbach Sebestyén street. The girl in Rumbach Sebestyén street thinks I live in Damjanich street, whilst the girl in Damjanich thinks in live in Zichy Jenő street number whatever. And where does one really live? Here. Today. But no one knows about this... this black whole. Only You... and the rabbit.”

The creators invite the viewers for a joint game, who can sometime be the observers or participants – as necessary. It’s an Everyman paraphrase, in a form easily recognizable by the youth – a death dance disguised as a house party. The main subject of the Szörprájzparti (Surprise Party) is the interpretation of breaking up/separation as death, and the comparison drawn between these two.

“Because nothing is so sweet and ridiculous than a good old breakup, since everything always happens for the last time, and this is what lies behind the depths of existence and perhaps this was the last time in our lives we visited this apartment under Kossuth Lajos number whatever, second floor, a one room + hall flat overlooking the street. A flat we’d urgently like to swap with extra payment for another Kossuth Lajos street one room + hall flat overlooking the street.” (Andrea Tompa, www.szinhaz.net)
