What emerges from modernity’s encounter with cosmic passion and horror? The Fiery Angel is a tale of a love-fueled frenzy: a woman seeks redemption for her restless soul through two men.
“In this symbolist psychological horror, the mind reveals itself in its totality. We are not here to do anyone any favors! With an axe we smash to pieces the mask of the audience's fatalism! Mesmerize the transfixed! Let us revel in incomprehension! The snarling of the Beings on stage is our collective Debility! We live in shared solitude; our catheters feed into one another, and the same Wormheart pumps inside us all!
The stage is an exclamation mark!
The stage is an organism!
The stage is an orgasm!
A dynamic matrix!
The howling of the Phantom-Worms on stage: formless form!
Let us be luminous and creamy!
Animals condemned to be slaughtered!
The Being on stage is fiery ectoplasm!
Destroy yourself!”
— excerpt from the Necrophagous Manifesto
Renáta is engaged to Mádiel, the fiery angel, but when he abandons her to live on Earth in human form, she embarks on a manic quest to find him. Along the way, she meets Ruprecht, a scholar whose explorations of the occult reveal bizarre phenomena that point far beyond an obsessive love affair. As the two venture beyond the limits of perception, Renáta's longing for the angel grows increasingly unbearable, driving her to do anything to be reunited with him.
Sára Sahin-Tóth (2000) is an exciting emerging theatre-maker of her generation, known for her experimental approach to theatrical forms and distinctive artistic vision. She graduated in 2024 from the directing programme led by Tamás Ascher and Péter Forgács, as part of Freeszfe’s Emergency Exit programme. Her most recent production, Kaspar, premiered in 2025 in co-production with Trafó and received the Best Studio Theatre Performance award at the MOST FESZT festival in Tatabánya in 2026.
She is currently a PhD student at the Doctoral School of Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of Pécs. Her research focuses on the performance of non-teleological texts and the presence of the animalistic – themes that are also present in The Fiery Angel, her first stage work in Trafó’s Main Hall.
