The fifth-year Zsámbéki-Fullajtár-Tárnoki-Jákfalvi acting class performs three of Ibsen's family dramas. We look into the dimly lit rooms of the Alvings, Solnesses and Borkmans. Fathers, sons, mothers and daughters dance a death dance.

"Mrs. Alving
We are full of ghosts, Manders. It's not just what we inherit from our mothers and fathers that goes on inside us. It's all sorts of old dead opinions and all sorts of old dead beliefs and things like that. It's not living in us, but it's sitting there and we can't get rid of it. And so we are all so miserably afraid of the light."

Mastery exam in acting, using the simplest possible theatrical tools. The graduate acting class puts Ibsen plays in a whole new light. They show intergenerational tensions, fraying nerves and brilliant acting. In an empty space, relying only on their talents and each other, they condense scenes whose absurdity is both amusing and thought-provoking.

Ibsen's text, which has been played to the point of being boring, or at least familiar, finds new emphases, and the brilliant acting of the cast brings to the surface relevant tensions that question the differences between generations. Ibsen's text is given a new yet precise interpretation, leaving room for a complex presentation of the actor's character formation.

The Zsámbéki-Fullajtár-Tárnoki-Jákfalvi class attends the University of Theatre and Film Arts from 2018 to 2023. Jakab Tarnóczi graduated in 2019 in the music director class of Tamás Ascher at the SZFE. He is currently a director at Katona József Theatre.
