If a historian in the future would have to guess the condition of the EU based on the crisis mood of the 2010s, probably the prognosis would not be very optimistic. Is the Europe brand really a bunch of empty slogans, or the feeling of European life has gotten to a downturn? What happened to the European idea?
The Eurohumanoids of STEREO AKT strive to create EU 2.0. They organize a focus group research with the help of local citizens in order to understand an average European person’s desires, nightmares and sins.
Through their observation we might understand what should be the next move: is it cosmetic intervention, facelift, or reanimation that is needed?
The live-composed visuals and acoustics, coupled with the variety of non-professional everyday people in the focus group make this event vivid, spontaneous and fresh night by night. The audience is not only an observer but a co-creator of this unconventional research.
About the creation:
ITZ at Zimmertheater Tübingen and STEREO AKT organized an international conference along this issue, entitled “European Freak’s Con” in the beginning of February 2019. The Hungarian theatre collective STEREO AKT created a participative performance on the spot,
using the experiences, questions and dilemmas raised by the conference. Since then STEREO AKT has developed the concept to create an international, adaptable version of the piece.
