AKA MOON (Belgium) feat. BABA SISSOKO (Mali)

Aka Moon and Baba Sissoko bring us their Art through music of amazing strength and chants of a hypnotic nature. On their album ‘Culture Griot’, two universes collide. We are easily carried away towards the unknown where boundaries become blurred - a process of coming together, both geographically and mentally.
The unique place Aka Moon occupies in today’s music scene is down to the way they, independently of any particular trends, combine art with inspired musical craftsmanship. This allows the musical personalities of saxophonist and composer Fabrizio Cassol, bassist Michel Hatzigeorgiou and drummer Stéphane Galland to explore all kinds of musical traditions and merge them into their own musical universe.
Born in Bamako (Mali), Baba Sissoko is the undisputed master of the tamani (the original small talking drum). He is from a great and ancient dynasty of griots from Mali. In the Malian tradition, griots are claimed to comfort hearts and souls by means of music. They are also the keepers of traditions and (hi)stories, and are therefore counter stones of African Culture.
