Kill two birds with one stone, as one of the greatest choreographers of our time presents updated versions of two of his major pieces.

Revisiting ‘The Rite of Spring’, a major piece of the Gat-repertoire (created in 2004), ‘SACRE’ whips audiences into a fever through its incendiary juxtaposition of Stravinsky and Cuban salsa. Through a combination of elegance and bursts of feverish movement, the piece renews ‘The Rite of Spring’ in all the splendor of its modernity. ‘SACRE’ received a Bessie award in 2006 for its performances at the Lincoln Center Festival in New York.

‘GOLD’ is an adaptation of 2013’s ‘The Goldlandbergs’, a piece based on two major works by Glenn Gould: his legendary interpretations of Bach's ‘Goldberg Variations’, and ‘The Quiet in the Land’, a poetic radio documentary. ‘GOLD’ reflects the intense resonance between music and dance, and explores the nature of deeply human relationships.

Emanuel Gat was born in Israel in 1969. His first encounter with dance was at the age of 23 during a workshop led by Israeli choreographer Nir Ben Gal. A few months later he joined the Liat Dror Nir Ben Gal Company, with whom he toured internationally. He started working as an independent choreographer in 1994, and ten years later founded his company Emanuel Gat Dance at the Suzanne Dellal Centre in Tel Aviv, with whom he has created several pieces, including ‘Winter Voyage’ (2004) and ‘The Rite of Spring’ (2004), which two have won the Bessie Award. Following this, he settled at the Maison Intercommunale de la Danse in Istres in France, where he created ‘Silent Ballet’ (2008), ‘Winter variations’ (2009), ‘Brilliant Corners’ (2011) and ‘Plage Romanique’ (2014).

Emanuel is regularly invited to present his work and create new choreography for dance companies around the world, including The Paris Opera Ballet, Sydney Dance Company, Tanztheater Bremen, Le Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, Ballet de Marseille, The Royal Swedish Ballet, Polish National Ballet, Ballet de Lorraine and Cedar Lake among others.
