A small lecture or a dialogue could shed more light on the relation between conceptual design and creative process. Already before the choreographic work started there was an intense dialogue between Chris Haring and Katherina Zakravsky around ideas based on Ridley Scott‘s film \Blade Runner. This film proved to be a lifetime compagnion both for the theorist Zakravsky and the artist Haring. Zakravsky could refer to her long ongoing studies on Science Fiction cinema and also show video examples relevant to \Fremdkörper. In the middle of the choregraphic development Zakravsky invited the four dance performers Stephanie Cumming, Julia Mach, Olaf Reinecke, Robert Tirpak to an interview that was recorded. The questions revolved around the experience of the (human) performers to slip into an alien existence unknown to them. Are these creatures lonely in their circles? How do they communicate? Do they feel like a space ship crew? The lecture could also introduce the audience to some aspects of the inner work a performer goes through - as with dance performers normally only the result on stage is finally made public. There could also be some commenting on the meaning and makeup of Zakravsky‘s sometimes enigmatic text material in the piece that was also written for \Fremdkörper\ specifically. Finally it would be interesting to have a more fundamental discussion on our ideas of \being human\ in relation to eminent visions of non-human intelligent organisms or machines we might soon share our lifes with. In relation to \Fremdkörper\ the question repeatedly popped up if these creatures on stage are actually \super-human\, if they have higher abilities they cannot handle yet - or if they are aliens who just slipped into human bodies trying to operate them in their own strange way. This question was never quite decided and so the performance is the way how to keep the question open. We could therefore also talk if and to which extend dance and performance are fields where the whole issue around the human and the post-huamn can be adressed specifically well.
