EMERGEANDSEE was established in year 2000 by Kathrin Schops and Robert Laing, who were students then in Camberwell College of Arts in London. At the time, the new and cheap accessible technology for moving image, such as editing softwares and digital video cameras were introduced to Art colleges, resulting in students experimenting with moving image ever more than before, and creating great amount of short films, animations and videos. 4–5 years ago there were no outlet for those kind of experimental, unique films, especially for students. EMERGEANDSEE was the first organization, which took this problem seriously and started to promote students films with creativity to the general public. Hana Yamazaki organized the first show in Budapest, April 2001 at Trafó. It turned out to be an unexpected success bringing full house of audience. Since then other three shows have taken place, in April 2004 extending to two nights. EMERGEANDSEE Budapest 2005 features more Hungarian films, and the two-night show is expanded by adding discussions after the screenings, and audience award will also be given.
