A report from London – after the triumphant years of indie, new and mostly electronic music has been emerging in London’s small clubs. This time we’ve made an attempt to bring you two of these new bands who managed to strike out from the saturated British music scene, have signed to famous Parisian labels and now taking over Europe.
Is Tropical
Is Tropical arose last year from London’s creative area Shoreditch, and they managed to tour with Klaxons under the wings of French label Kitsuné. On stage, they wear masks of a street gang and play „filthy and pretty” music with heavy bass and drums you can dance to.
Simon Milner– guitar, bass, synthetisator
Dominic Apa – drums
Gary Barber - guitar, bass, synthetisator
We Have Band
The London trio We Have Band made a really good start: they won Glastonbury Festival’s talent competition in 2008, then worked with Gareth Jones (producer of Grizzly Bear and These New Puritans). They merit from various genres from new wave to rock, as they earlier all worked together at a record label in London. This hyperactive tornado called WHB (3 vocals, guitar, keyboards, percussion) will now perform the songs of their debut album at Trafó Budapest.
Thomas Wegg-Prosser – bass, guitar, vox
Deborah Wegg-Prosser – vox, percussion
Darren Bancroft – vox, sampler
Sebastian Sternberg – drums
