A special treat and a unique theatre experience awaits the audience who attend the latest performance of Maladype Theatre.
During the rehearsals the actors had the possibility to shape the characters and scenes of Büchner’s well-known drama into their own liking, using their own creativity and imagination. This method allowed them to produce four variations of each and every scene of the play, which make nearly one hundred versions altogether, all differing from one another in casting, theatrical style, genre, mood or even language. The selection of the scenes that are put on stage each night – which make up the line of the story – is greatly influenced by the audience, who have the chance to intervene and shape the course of the events. Due to this unique dramaturgy which playfully combines the precise elaboration of the work with the singular and unrepeatable experience of something “happening here and now”, the performance of Leonce and Lena is different each night, yet always valid and timely for the day on which it was born.
