SYD - Láng Annamária – Nagy Fruzsina: SYD

1900 Ft / Student: 1500Ft / season ticket is valid

Singer Sydonie Raawiya Koumba, aka Syd is finally making her way to Budapest in the Fall!

Actress Annamária Láng is preparing for a special musical event. In the course of her journeys to Africa, she met Sydonie Raawiya Koumba, the emblematic funk-queen of the 70s, who has since retired from the music scene. A number of international stars have tried to lure her back to the stage over the years, but Syd said no to everyone – including people like Stevie Wonder, Britney Spears, as well as Einstürzende Neubauten. For some odd reason – perhaps out of revenge – she still said yes to Láng. Not only can the audience hear Syd’s songs translated to Hungarian, but they’ll also have a chance to take a peek into a musical career filled with scandals and tragedies. Four to the floor, glamour, leopard skins and whakhachaka-wah-wah!

The preparations of the long-awaited concert took place online and over the phone…

“I got András Vinnai to translate the lyrics. These are songs from the times in Africa and America when she was still a real star. They’re mainly about the search for identity and love. We’re still getting acquainted with Syd’s world. I’d like to sing a few songs from her on my own and I’ve asked Dávid Szesztay and his band to help me with the renditions.” (Annamária Láng)

“This girl is a great vocalist. I can really sit back on her voice. That’s all that counts for me. To be able to sit back on the voice, so it wouldn’t start wobbling under me. If I could, I’d only do backing vocals. Unfortunately, however, I don’t get a chance to stay in the background. I’m always pushed upfront.” (Syd)
