If pure dance is on the menu, you need some hard-to-get ingredients: a unique, mature language of dance, a firm concenpt of movement, a well-planned structure, clever use of space and superb dancers. Klári Pataky expertly supplies all of the above and doesn’t forget to include the spices.

The light of lamps falls on the dance mat – simple, commonplace lamps. The lampshades yawn like cones which turn into celestial bodies at the touch of the dancers moving to Steve Reich’s hypnotic music. "The climax is provided by the masterfully pinpointed moment in which the four dancers move the lamps in unison, turning them into giant pendulums. Klári Pataky created combinations of steps suiting the monumental nature of the scene accompanied with dives combined with changes of direction...”
(Virág Vida)

Klári Pataky is expanding on her etude presented in the first edition of the Mini-a-tures in 2007 into a complete, feature-length work “You can place your trust in Klári Pataky (Lábán Rudolf award, 2008), since she isn’t the type who manufactures her performances and she always comes up with matured and refined productions. She’s a graceful, playful artist who produces works of a wide spectrum, confidently moving through the various styles from the ironic, humorous Soldier’s Tale to the retro-obsessed, emotional wrecks of her piece entitled Yellow Leaves Falling and the minimalist beauty of Bolero. Some choreographers stick to the same formula in all their works and keep chiseling at the same monumental block of their oeuvre, whilst others start with a clean slate for every rehearsal faze, adopting a curious and open-minded approach to their leap of faith into the unknown. Klári Pataky clearly belongs to the latter group.”
