Workshop with the Ensemble intercontemporain for young Hungarian composers

Free Programme

Organized by MR3-Radio Bartók and the Trafó, in the frame of the 'Music of Our Age' Festival

This insight to the composers’ and performers’ mutual work is worth considering not only for composers but for the public interested in the music of our time, too.

The experienced and world-famous performers of contemporary music, Pierre Boulez’s musicians, the members of the Ensemble intercontemporain not only give concert in Budapest, but they meet Hungarian composers — an idea initiated by the MR3-Radio Bartók. The Bartók channel offers the chance to work with the special team of the Interco (trombone, clarinet, violin, cello and percussion) for eight young composers (seven of them were finalists of New Hungarian Music Forum, a composers’ competition of BMC and the palace of Arts, Budapest). Four candidates will be accepted. During the two public meetings, one piece of four composers will be rehearsed.

Although the members of the Interco is going to get the scores beforehand (at the beginning of September), the real work begins at the workshop. In the rehearsals we can see the compositions in statu nascendi, in the moments of being born, in the exciting moments between the drafting and the revival. There will be a possibility to test some compositional variations as well.
