Escape from the Earth Video Debut!

Žagar is a well-known headliner of the Hungarian electronic music scene. Their unique sound is based on electronic beats and atmospheric soundtrack moods combined with the psychedelic attitude of the late 60´s. Their debut album, Local Broadcast was selected as one of the 50 all-time most important Hungarian records by WAN2, Hungary’s leading music magazine.

Their latest album, Cannot Walk Fly Instead (CWFI) entered the top 10 charts immediately in Hungary. Its first single "Wings of Love", featuring the Underground Divas: 6 of Hungary's most popular singers, earned heavy radio airplay and secured a no1. spot on MTV's video chart. They have earned numerous awards for this record, most notably the Hungarian Record Industry’s Fonogram Award and second prize in the International Songwriting Competition 2008. CWFI is scheduled for European release in the fall of 2008 with remixes from the likes of rising UK dj Goldierocks and Ed Banger’s own Vicarious Bliss. Zagar is now nominated for the Best Local Act in the MTV European Music Awards 2008.

The band has been performing live as a 5 piece featuring guest vocalist George Ligeti. Apart from Hungary they have already played in Great Britain, The Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Russia. During performances, visual art projecting is used to connect Russian avantgarde films with modern cinema and surrealism.

Zagar’s unique sound has been incorporated into short and feature films and their tracks appear several times in popular TV series like CSI:Miami and CSI:New York. The soundtrack album of Eastern Sugar, a Hungarian feature film, won the The Hungarian Film Critics‘ Award.

This evening at Trafo, the band plays their psychedelic instrumental tracks and special reworks featuring Underground Divas. Visual by Kemuri.
