Company Krisztián Gergye: MELANCHOLY

1800 Ft / Student: 1400 Ft (Trafó season ticket is valid!)
Melancholy, premiered in May 2008, returns in a new form at the end of October to Trafó! It is worth watching the piece that received great critical acclaim in Debrecen this autumn at the Alternative Theatre Muster. Music plays a special role in the piece – edited from Mozart, Purcell, Bach, Mahler and Schnittke - presented by György Philipp and Ildikó Szakács magnificiently.

Krisztián Gergye’s name is well-known among appreciators of contemporary dance. He has been working as a dancer for more than ten years, choreographing and directing since 2001. He often collaborates with contemporary opera singer, Agens and gives his contribution to dance concerts, contemporary dance operas, drama and opera pieces. He takes inspiration mostly from the immaterial and spiritual dimension of life. In this piece he tries to translate the mood we call ’melancholy’ to the language of dance.

In Debrecen at the Alternative Theatre Muster Melancholy received the special prize of the Budapest Municipality for the grandiose music compilation and for the excellent music dramaturgy!

At the end of September the young dancer-choreographer performed his solo entitled E. Sch. Eroto (inspired by the work of Egon Schiele) in London with great success at the DancEUnion – European Contemporary Dance Festival.
