Contemporary Circus Pass is valid
The 22 acrobats in Compagnie XY poke fun at gravity: they fly, flap and float. Bodies are catapulted from springboards to create a human tower, twirling through the air and crossing each other in their flight. One wild rhythmic image follows another: tumultuous tussle, a graceful hanging pose, a 1920’s Lindy Hop. Carried along by a continual physical engagement and a vividly-communicated energy, the company explores the concepts of crowds and solitude, of carrying and being carried, of being together, and of flying and falling.

‘Alone one goes faster, together we go further’. The northern French circus group remains faithful to its motto in this new show, declaring their love of human cooperation by playing a game of construction and deconstruction, composing and decomposing forms as if they were a living landscape. The collective dimension of this work was not a foregone conclusion; it was formed through a long process of collaboration, interactions between individuals, and group exploration. This is the story to be told.
