Nouveau Cirque Du Vietnam: Lang Toi

3000 Ft / Student: 2500Ft
Tiny figures flying on sticks. A circus operating with images, sounds and gestures – a poetic journey for young and old alike! I’m taking my whole family.

The artists of Lang Toi compose the everyday rhythm of Vietnamese village life with four and and half meter-long bamboo sticks. Apart from the entertainment value of the new circus genre, we can learn a lot about the cultural experiment of artists in peasant garb trying to show and act ploughing with hands, irrigation, the market, building houses of the traditional practices of celebration, accompanied by live music.

Vietnamese artists living and working in Europe have joined forced with artists from their homeland in order to develop the new circus concept, in which they strive to introduce, interpret and make accessible the Vietnamese culture. Over the course of the performance, the play becomes understandable and “decodable”, regardless of the unusual oriental setting.
