How informative can a simple breath be? How do we breathe life into our thoughts and desires? in_form is movement-based performance that uses amplified breathing and stays on the very edge of visibility. in_form asks you to open your ears, listen and be present.

The figure of the performance is in constant flux of becoming. It perceives and takes on various modalities of states and forms of existence derived from internal and external spaces. On the edge of visibility, it examines the contours of understanding, lingering in potentiality. Yet, it is only a shadow of itself.

The performance was made during and immediately after the first wave of the pandemic. I had time to do yoga and breathing exercises. I saw more and more precisely how changing and controlling my breath affects my state of consciousness and mood and vice versa. During that unpredictable period, I watched how my desires, plans and motivations changed and took shape. The in_form performance invites the audience into the gray zone of intentions to jointly examine our emotional responses to the smallest changes. – Imre Vass

Pure form cannot exist by itself. It has to be held in some kind of material or energetic basis. Literally to ’inform’ means ’to put form into’ something. Even our sense impressions, emotions and thoughts have been found to be carried by physical and chemical processes taking place in the nervous system and the brain. - David Bohm
