Gábor Csalog, the superb pianist-composer is a recurring guest of the Trafó. Gábor Csalog was accepted at 11 years of age to the Special Talent Faculty of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest. His teachers included Erna Czövek , Dezső Ránki , Zoltán Kocsis, György Kurtág, Pál Kadosa and András Schiff. After completing his studies, he worked for two years as the assistant of György Sebők at the University of Indiana in the USA.
He often performs contemporary music with a number of Hungarian composers, and has an ongoing working relationship with people such as László Sáry and Gyula Csapó. He has been studying and working with György Kurtág since 1980 and is a skilled performer of his works, with a number of premiers under his belt. Recently, he has been working as the constant assistant of Kurtág’s chamber courses. He regularly performs both in Hungary and abroad and his repetoire includes both classical and contemporary piano pieces.
