Brave Space / performance club

free admission but only upon registration or invitation

What is it?
A brave space. As a matter of fact, we don’t know exactly yet, either. We are finding it out. We are being on it.

Creating something is no "safe space", it's "brave space", a friend of ours recently said. It’s when you do things you wouldn't do otherwise. Beyond your comfort zone, but still within safety.

We depart from this train of thought. We open the Brave Space performance club. We are reflecting on performance art, sharing performative practices, (re)working archive material and emerging material. We learn and unlearn unexpected things. We reflect on our current situation, our working conditions, not just on a therapeutic level.

Our aim is to create a safe space for experimentation and critical reflection. To understand what makes us feel safe and what makes us unbrave, to understand what makes public space. Our aim is to bring together different experiences, perspectives, knowledge, to try out situations, practice solidarity, create visions.

Brave Space was launched by Freeszfe’s "Theatre and Performance Art" class and its friends. Brave Space works because it exists. We meet monthly at the Trafó Club in Budapest. The club is invitation-based and growing: everyone can invite at least one person. We are expanding and connecting our friendship networks and by doing this we are expanding the notion of friendship as well: from the private to the public.

So how can you get involved?
1. If you receive an invitation from us or a friend
2. If you feel invited by our topics and our goals

Participation is free and can be casual or longer term. The number of participants is limited. Please indicate your interest in attending by contacting one of the hosts or email zsuzsicu@gmail.com

The language of the club is Hungarian, or English or other upon request.
