What is the hobby of a strongman? What is the sound of an acrobat falling? How can a story actually emerge from a book? And what is the origin of this all? 4 circus themed puppet theatre plays with 1 ticket. Adults can only come accompanied by kids or with in a good sense of humor. There are no language barriers.

Circus Mechanicus, the automatic theatre of Tintaló Company (HU), presents the colourful days of a travelling circus. You can find out which corner the invisible man is sitting, whether the circus director ever has a rest, or how the acrobats relax.

In Le Petit Cirque, electro-acoustic musician Laurent Bigot (FR) creates an installation evocative of a circus ring, upon which he sets objects and toys into motion. The frictions and vibrations created by these movements are picked up by microphones and diffused without any special effects. Sound guides each of his actions.

Pop-up, by Teatro delle Briciole (IT), re-invents the pop-up book for the stage, presenting the adventures of a child made of paper and an enigmatic ball. The pop-up illustrations powerfully arouse emotions and create associations between feelings and forms (in this case, geometric). Truly, a fantasy.

Carlos Vilardebo's 1961 film of Alexander Calder's mini circus portrays an intricately assembled performance piece played out by handmade characters including jugglers, sword swallowers, clowns, and animals. These figures, crafted from a collection of 'cork, wire, wood, yarn, paper, string, and cloth', were each assigned a series of movements and manipulated by the artist to perform specific circus acts. With performances held at various locations in Paris and New York through the mid-1930s, Calder's circus helped to establish him in avant-garde circles.
