The name Specko Jedno is derived from the ironic amalgamation of the Slovakian “všetko jedno” (it’s all the same) and English “special one” expressions. The band’s singer, originally video artist and painter, is Bori Rutkai. Her lyrics and paintings are born on the verge of fantasy and reality, with the images and texts inspiring and creating one another. Bori’s special attitude of performance s manifested on stage through the playful game with sounds, rhythms and styles of singing as well as through her amusingly sincere and interactive communication.
Since the release of the band’s 2009 album Whatevergreens – Édesmindegy szerenádok (Sweetly Same Serenades) the band has undergone a major change and now sports a new sound. The lyrics of the new album Anticity - Bori Rutkai’s works - were born through the threesome of humor, melancholy and poetry, with the lyrics accompanied by a melange of various styles of music; funk’n’roll, blues’on’bass, chi’n’punk, garden-space-disco.
