CHING YING CHIEN - CONTEMPORARY DANCE WORKSHOP

Her class explores a fusion of contemporary dance techniques, blending elements of East Asian movement traditions—including Tai Chi, martial arts, and Chinese dance—with Western physical culture and philosophy. Through breathwork and core activation, you’ll discover how to seamlessly shift between textures, rhythms, dynamics, and stillness. Guided improvisation, along with character and animal-inspired movement play, will help you unlock new ways of expressing yourself and deepening your personal movement language.

Ching-Ying Chien, born in 1988 in Taiwan, is a London-based freelance dance artist. Her choreographic works include Vulture (2018), selected for Aerowaves 2023, and Adam & Eve, co-created with breaking dancer Issue Park. Through performance, choreography, and interdisciplinary collaborations, Chien continues to expand the boundaries of contemporary dance.
